Artwork Story: Capturing Hidden Geometry
Inspired not by the typical bloom, but by the intricate, sculptural shape of a nascent rose bud, this artwork captures the quiet anticipation found just before full flower. Christina was drawn to the elegant way the petals unfurl, revealing hidden geometry and subtle shifts in colour.
Crafted over 15 hours, the original piece was meticulously created using Faber-Castell Polychromos coloured pencils on smooth, 250gsm Bristol Board. The detailed work focuses entirely on the bud, highlighting the smooth transition of colour from stem to petal tip.
The result is a refined, minimalist portrayal that focuses on form and light, making it a beautiful, sophisticated piece of botanical art for any modern home.
